Black out text in a PDF
Hide an account number, address or name in a PDF or photo so it is removed from the file, not just covered. Free on your phone.

How it works
- 1
Open the PDF or photo
From Mask your data.
- 2
Draw over what to hide
An account number, an address, a name.
- 3
Save a new copy
What you hid is removed from the file, not covered.
The problem
A black box drawn over a number in most apps is a sticker: the number is still in the file underneath, and anyone who copies the text or lifts the box gets it back.
What SahiScan does
Open the document from Mask your data and use Hide details. Draw over what to hide and save a new copy, with it removed from the file.
The details that matter
- Hide details is built to destroy what is under the box, not to paint over it.
- The Cover tool in Edit PDF is paint, for looks - to take something out for good, this is the tool.
- You get a new copy; the original is left as it was.
- We never see your files.
Questions people ask
How do I black out text in a PDF on my phone?
Open Mask your data, choose the PDF and use Hide details. Draw a box over the words and save: they are removed from the copy, not just covered.
Is a black box the same as removing the text?
Not always. A box drawn on top can be lifted off and the words are still underneath. Hide details is built to destroy what is under the box, so it is gone from the file.
What about the Cover tool in Edit PDF?
Cover paints over a part of the page for looks. To take something out for good, use Hide details.
Is my original changed?
No. You get a new copy; the original stays as it was.
