The problem
A photo of a page is a photo of a page - grey, skewed, with the shadow of your own hand across it.
What SahiScan does
The camera finds the edges, flattens the perspective, and evens out the lighting so the paper reads as white and the text as black.
The details that matter
- Lighting is corrected by estimating the page background and dividing the image by it. Simple auto-levels pulls the middle of a page one colour and the edges another, which is worse than doing nothing.
- The estimate is floored so dark bands - a header row, a photo, a table fill - are not blown out to white along with the paper.
- Pages are combined into one PDF in the order you scanned them.
