The problem
A studio charges you for a sheet of ten and takes a day. A phone photo is the wrong shape, the head is the wrong size, and the portal rejects it without telling you which of those was the problem.
What SahiScan does
Take or pick a photo. The app finds the face, straightens a tilted head, crops to exactly 35 x 45 mm with the head at the right height, and can replace the background with plain white or light blue.
The details that matter
- Head height is set to about 70% of the frame. That sits inside the 60-90% band the ICAO portrait standard defines and the one Indian portals inherit, so the same photo works across most forms rather than being tuned to one.
- The crown of the head is estimated from the eye line and chin rather than from where hair happens to end, because volumised or dark hair against a dark background fools edge detection and produces a crop that cuts the top of the head off.
- A head tilted up to 20 degrees is levelled. A turned head is not "corrected", because rotating a face the camera never saw would mean inventing the side of it.
- Before it saves, the photo is checked against 23 rules - eyes closed, face too small, too dark, blurred, more than one person - and you are told which one failed and what to do about it.
